AMM is a British group of free improvisation, which was founded in London in 1965. AMM are not well-known to the general public but have had a tremendous impact on the field of improvised musical music. AMM have been called “legendary”, “groundbreaking” and “legendary”. AMM are perhaps the first group to deliberately make music that is not in any particular musical genre. Michael Nyman said that AMM “seem to have succeeded without the aid or hindrance from any type of prepared external discipline.” Their recordings were released on Matchless Recordings by Eddie Prevost, founder and percussionist. Keith Rowe, founding member, was asked in 2001 if “AMM”, was an abbreviation. He replied that the letters AMM stood for something. But as you probably know, it’s a secret! Bio by Wikipedia
