Frédéric Rabold

Frederic Rabold, a German composer/trumpeter, is comfortable with jazz idioms like swing and Dixieland. He also enjoys the modernisms and Avantegarde explorations by Gunter Hampel. He was influenced by the trumpet legends Chet Baker, Clifford Brown and Booker Little. He has also worked with Tony Oxley, Albert Mangelsdorff and Lester Bowie. Ribold’s crew was very popular in the 70’s. This edition was made even more successful by Lauren Newton, an American singer. Vocal Summit’s founding member, Newton can sing Webern and Schoenberg as well as exploring the improvisational edges. The unusual combination of voice, trumpet, clarinets, clarinets, and rhythm section creates a small ensemble that has a big band sound. From www.mpsmusic.com
