The album title, “Jazz macht Spazz”, should not be taken as a misinterpretation of the phrase “jazz makes you laugh”. This is progressive jazz-rock at it’s best. Budi Siebert (flutes, saxes), Herbert Binder, Frank Fischer (gt), later with Release Music Orchestra (keys), and Bea Maier (later together with Zomby Woof, Moira), all of whom were well-trained on the instruments, played a variety, inventive, melodic, and often furious type of music with lots Krautrock magic influenced from Frank Zappa and King Crimson. The CD contains 5 recordings from German radio station SWF. 2 of the titles were live recordings (taped directly from the soundboard). All in all, 77 minutes of fantastic flute and sax play, furious and lyrical bass work, perfect keyboard sounds, and hypnotic rhythm patterns. It is hard to believe that Puppenhaus has never recorded an album. Budi Siebert and friends recorded an album in 1980 under the name “Herrgottsax” which will also be released on Long Hair. Digitally remastered using original master tapes. The CD includes a comprehensive booklet, band story, photos, and a beautiful cover that was inspired by a painting by drummer Bea Mayer.
