Paul Weitz is a Buffalo native and has been a professional musician since 1983. Paul studied Classical Guitar under Oswald Rantucci and Mike Andriaccio at the University of Buffalo. Frank Gerrard and Andy Roemer taught him jazz guitar. He continued his studies in composition and arranging at Russ Mesina while he was still in Buffalo. He studied guitar with Ted Greene in Los Angeles and Sid Jacobs in Los Angeles. Barney Kessell and Ed Bickert were his major influences. Lenny Breau was also a big influence. Paul has performed with famous musicians like Jimmy Wyble and Barry Zweig. Cal Lutheran University awarded him a BS in Software Engineering. Paul performs in the Los Angeles area as Solo (with bass), Duo (with trombone), Trio, and Quartet. He is most often joined by Donna Deussen, a jazz vocalist. His debut CD, “THE PAUL WITZ TRIO”, was released in spring 2010. It features Gus Duffy (drums) and Matt VanBenschoten (bass). It has been a huge success and is currently being played on jazz radio stations such as KKJZ, Los Angeles.
