Mareike Wiening

Mareike Wiening is a drummer, composer, and bandleader. She has a reputation for bringing “a planar modulating musical language and a propulsive drift” to some of the most exciting jazz music today (Giovanni Russonello. New York Times). Ms. Wiening’s music has been described as “thoroughly contemporary, progressive jazz,” and her album Crosswalk, recorded at Systems Two Recording Studio in New York, contains many layers. Wiening, who is based in New York, has performed with many artists from the United States, Europe, and South America. John Zorn’s COBRA and the German Jazz Youth Orchestra have featured her. She also appeared on numerous Off-Broadway shows. Wiening has collaborated with many renowned musicians, including Rich Perry, Stefon Harpfer, Dayna Steves, Dan Tepfer and Florian Weber.
