Frank Wingold

Frank Wingold studied jazz guitar and classical guitar at Hilversum Conservatory. He now lives in Cologne, and is a member of several local bands. He is professor for jazz guitar at the Univeristy for Applied Sciences Osnabruck/Germany and teacher for jazz guitar at the Prins Claus Conservatoire Groningen/Netherlands. In his unique style of composition and improvisation, he combines jazz, classical and rock-oriented techniques on electric and accoustic guitars. His influences include jazz music, classical music, jazz music history, and music from eastern European and other cultures. His first album, Clairvoyance, received enthusiastic press reviews. The band has been performing regularly at festivals and clubs since 2006. Double Moon Records released the second CD, ‘virtues u0026 vices’ in November 2011. His trio, “agog”, won the 1993 Europe Jazz Contest in Brussels. Frank was also awarded the ‘Prize for Best Soloist’. The 2002 02storch trio won the Dutch Jazz Competition” at North Sea Jazz Festival. The band released their fourth CD, “Some Frump Punk”, in 2008. He is also part of the well-known group Underkarl, which tours frequently in Germany and overseas.
