Brice Winston

Brice Winston, an American-born saxophonist/composer currently resides in Tucson, AZ. After graduating from the University of New Orleans, Winston began his career with Nicholas Payton as a trumpeter before moving on to work with Terence Blanchard, a Grammy-winning composer and trumpeter. Brice has been a resident of New Orleans for 16 years and has had the privilege to record/or perform with many of the best jazz musicians, including Herbie Hancock and Ellis Marsalis. Brice is a composer and performer on many Blanchard film scores and CDs, including Magnetic. Brice is also co-owner of Tucson Jazz Institute (TJI), Community Music School, Tucson, AZ. TJI’s primary focus is on jazz education for middle and high school students throughout southern Arizona. TJI’s ensembles are well-respected nationally and internationally. The Ellington Band won the Essentially Ellington competition at Jazz at Lincoln Center in New York and was awarded the Downbeat Magazine top high school jazz band title. Brice has dedicated a lot of his time to education. He is a regular clinician for prestigious programs such as the Henry Mancini Institute of jazz and Thelonious Monk Institute.
