Robert Dwayne Womack (/’woUmaek/; was born March 4, 1944). He is an American singer-songwriter, musician and musician. Womack has been an active recording artist since the 1960s, when he was the lead singer for his family’s musical group The Valentinos. He also served as Sam Cooke’s backing guitarist. His career spans more than 50 years and includes a variety of styles from R to Z.
