Bill Allred is a solid Dixieland trombonist and a regular at jazz festivals. He started playing in bands in high school. Locally, he worked with the Dixie Lads and the Davenport Jazz Band. He settled in Florida in 1971 and played often at Disney World. Allred, who toured alongside Wild Bill Davison, recorded as a leader on several small labels, including Fat Cat’s Jazz, World Jazz and in 1995 for Nagel-Heyer. His son John Allred, who plays in a similar style to his father and sometimes teams up together with him, had a quartet date with Arbors in 1993.
