David Ambrosio is originally from New York and currently lives in NYC. He works as a musician and educator. He is co-leader of Grupo Los Santos, and 40Twenty. He also plays in many other groups, including George Schuller’s Circle Wide, Eri Yamamoto Trio, Matt Renzi Trio, and the BMI/New York Jazz Orchestra, led by Jim McNeely. He has performed with jazz legends like Buddy DeFranco and George Garzone, Joseph Jarmon, Ralph Alessi, and Buddy DeFranco. David holds degrees in Jazz performance and Classical composition. His musical tastes have been enhanced by his unique travel experiences. He had the chance to perform in Cuba with Grupo Los Santos, Max Pollack’s Rumbatap and to collaborate with Afro/Cuban folkloric and dance ensembles. After that experience, he became interested in Afro/Cuban Bata Drumming and has been learning with Carlos Gomez, a master bata drummer, for six years. He has performed and consulted on numerous occasions in Central and South East Asia for the US State Department. He has recorded and performed with Uzbekistan’s Folk Instruments Chamber Orchestra Sogdiana as well as Kyrgyzstan’s most respected folk musicians. from http://www.davidambrosio.com
