Olivier Antunes was born in Paris in 1973, and grew up as a jazz pianist in Denmark. I consider him the Bill Evans’ most imaginative and lyrical pianist, judging by his three albums on Marshmallow Records. Antunes, who is on this early record (originally released 2003), is accompanied by two legend Danish musicians, Mads Vinding, a bassist who was a star on Duke Jordan’s Flight to Denmark, and Alex Riel, a drummer who has performed with Bill Evans, Dexter Gordon, Ben Webster and Jan Lundgren.
