Dmitry Baevsky

Dmitry Baevsky was a Russian citizen, born in St-Petersburg in 1976. At six years old, he began piano lessons. As a teenager, he discovered his passion for music and took up the alto saxophone. He entered the Mussorgsky College of Music, St-Petersburg in 1991 and studied with Gennady Silverstein, a brilliant Russian jazz saxophonist. Dmitry Baevsky was a regular at many international jazz festivals and venues throughout Russia in the nineties. He also participated in and won prizes at several jazz and classical competitions. He was granted a full scholarship to the New School University Jazz Department upon his 1996 arrival. Baevsky returned to New York after completing college and continued his work in the New York jazz community. His first CD, “Introducing Dmitry Baevsky”, was released by Lineage Records in 2005. This album features masters such as Jimmy Cobb, Cedar Walton and John Webber. Baevsky has recorded and performed with many musicians, including Willie Jones III, Harry Allen, Peter Bernstein. Junior Mance. Dennis Irwin. Jeremy Pelt. Steve Williams. Joe Magnarelli. David Wong. During his 2009 tour, he recorded “Some Other Spring (Rideau Rouge / Harmonia Mundi). Sharp Nine Records released “Down With It” in September 2010. It featured Dmitry’s current quartet members Jeb Patrick (p), David Wong(b) and Jason Brown.
