1996: Robert Balzar founded a group, the Robert Balzar Trio. 1998: The Robert Balzar Trio released their first CD, “TRAVELLING” (Jazzpoint). Czech Radio Jazz Test voted this album the 1998 CD of The Year. 2000: The Robert Balzar trio recorded ALONE (Cube/Metier), their second CD. This album was named the Best Czech CD. They were also named 2000’s Best Group of Year. 2002: The Robert Balzar Trio was the musical accompaniment to Yvonne Sanchez’s acclaimed debut album INVITATION (Cube/Metier). This album was nominated to win a Czech Grammy Award. 2005: The Robert Balzar Trio recorded OVERNIGHT (Sony/BMG). This album was nominated to win a Czech Grammy Award. 2006: The Robert Balzar Trio performed at the Istanbul Jazz Festival, Birmingham Jazz Festival (UK), and some Stockholm dates (S). 2007: The Robert Balzar Trio played a variety of concerts, including the Tel Aviv Jazz Festival in Israel, the Cheltenham Jazz Festival in the UK and some dates at Chicago (USA). 2008: The Robert Balzar Trio (Sony/BMG) released TALES (a collaboration with John Abercrombie (ECM). 2009: The Robert Balzar Trio, accompanied by John Abercrombie, began the year with a tour of the Czech Republic and Slovakia with guitarist John Abercrombie. The Trio performed a five-night stand in New York City in June. In preparation for recording a collaborative album, live work was concentrated on the Trio’s concerts with Dan Barta, a well-known Czech singer. 2010: Dan Barta and The Robert Balzar Trio, long-time collaborators, recorded and released THEYORIES (Taita), their first album. The album was recorded in Prague and mixed and master in New York. After the release of THEYORIES, a promotional tour was held in both Slovakia and Czech Republics.
