David Bandman

David, a native of Waukegan (IL), is a graduate of The University of North Texas. He played trombone with the One O’Clock Lab Band. He was the first ITEC international jazz-euphonium competition winner as a euphonium player. He is currently retired after serving twenty-four years in active duty with the United States Air Force Band, Washington D.C. He has been writing and recording music since his retirement. His first jazz euphonium CD, Can I Play Too was released. He arranged Herbert L. Clarke’s music for solo euphonium or big band. Sammy Nesitco said this about his unique approach: “Solo work reflects musicianship from a truly great soloist tailored arrangements made everything “fit perfectly and are superior… A very unique record.” Mendez, his second album, is an entire album full of original music that was inspired by Rafael Mendez’s style and technical wizardry. This recording was awarded the ITEA Roger Bobo Award for Recording Excellence: Solo classical euphonium. He wanted to make a record that was an absolute tour de force from the beginning. David’s unique talent and incredible musicianship are showcased on this album. The selections can be played solo, with the accompaniment of a seven-piece brass band and percussion. Burn Notice is his latest album. This recording is high-energy jazz/rock/funk. He is the best euphonium player around. He’s constantly looking for new ways to get the instrument out of its nerdy pigeon hole, and place it in the spotlight where it needs it most. Bandman once again has generously applied his evil genius to his high-octane, turbo-charged compositions. Bandman wears many hats on this recording. He uses his electric bass, guitar and keyboard sequencing skills to create all ten tracks. This is in addition to writing and arranging all original music, recording and editing the entire album, and playing all trombone parts. And, of course, providing superhuman euphonium solos. David has written extensively for the Big Apple Circus and the internationally acclaimed WWII big band show In the Mood Live. He also worked with Eric Jordan Young, the Imagination House, and many other clients.
