Guillaume Barraud

Surprisingly, it was the drums and guitar that Guillaume Barraud, a French flautist, started playing at an early age. It wasn’t until he met Hariprasad Chaurasia, an Indian music legend that he discovered his voice through the haunting and subtle sound of the Indian bamboo flute. He dedicated his time to North Indian Classical Music, the Bansuri, and spent five years studying under the tutelage of the maestro, at the “Vrindaban Gurukul” in Bombay. He was deeply ensconced in Indian culture and was able to absorb the authenticity and spirit of this secular tradition. He is now a proficient performer of the Bansuri flute recital. Guillaume is a versatile musician who has performed with well-known artists like MANU EVENO, a french band TRYO (Canada 2005).
