Borgmann started his career in 1980s. He was primarily associated with the Berlin Art Ensemble and Nick Steinhaus. (Participating in 1981’s South American tour for Goethe-Institut as well as 1982 Nickelsdorfer Konfrontationen). In 1987, he joined the Sirone Sextet of New York.
