Magnus Broo is a musician who’s playing is undoubtedly influenced by an inner need and is driven to express his feelings as clearly as possible. Magnus Broo is a favorite among musicians, critics, and fans since the early 1990s. His long-awaited and highly acclaimed debut CD, “Sudden Joy”, was released in 1999. He shows us that his surprising heat and intensity are not fading in the sequels “Levitation”, and “Sugarpromise”. Magnus Broo has a varied and rich musical career. He was born in 1965 in Vastervik, Smaland. Bob Henders, a man who introduced him to jazz as a teenager, taught Broo the trombone. Broo’s talent as a musician was discovered by Rich Matteson, an American brass instructor and tubaist. He convinced Broo to return to Texas with him to continue his studies. Broo stayed for five years. He is still trying to absorb all the information and knowledge he was exposed to. Magnus Broo was a member of many respected Swedish jazz bands, including Fredrik Noren’s eight-year-old band. The Stockholm Jazz Orchestra, Jazz Furniture, Radiojazzgruppen are just a few of the many groups that Magnus Broo has played in. Magnus Broo is a highly skilled and intelligent instrumentalist. However, he has yet to create a sound or phrase that demonstrates the extraordinary talents he has. He instead uses his inexhaustible creativity and deep musicality to express himself.
