Willie Brown

Willie Brown, one of the most important early Delta blues guitarists was undoubtedly the best accompanist of his time, most notably supporting legends like Charley Patton or Son House. Brown was born August 6, 1900 in Clarksdale MS. He was an exceptional guitarist and singer, but spent most of his life as a sideman. His ability to “second” other players is well-known among his peers. He performed alongside Robert Johnson and appeared on many seminal sides by Patton, including a Paramount label session in 1930 that produced two of the three Brown solo tracks, “M.”
