Caixo Cubo

Caixa Cubo has been active since 2007 and has six albums to their credit. Another album is due out in 2019. It’s multifaceted, with different configurations and aesthetics. It’s like a “magic Cube” that combines its colors. Every performance is a thrill because of the extraordinary interaction between Joao Fideles (drums), Henrique Gomide (“piano”) and Noa Stroeter (“bass”) It is the main element that emerges on different projects led by the trio. Caixa Cubo explores the rich rhythmical Brazilian landscapes and combines them with contemporary Brazilian jazz trends. Brazilian colours are displayed in many ways. Traditional styles such as choro and samba jazz are the heart of the project. The musicians’ creative and restless minds often take a more modern approach to music, which allows for cosmopolitan urban grooves as well as free jazz performances. This is without losing their Brazilian roots. Enigma – A Musica de Garoto 2017 is an updated version of the work of Garoto (1915-1955), a pioneer in Brazilian modern guitar and bossa nova. Misturada was Caixa Cubo’s fifth album. It is a tribute to Brazilian music legends and a re-imagining of samba jazz. Teco Cardoso (woodwinds), and Nailor Proveta(clarinet) were special guests on the album, which was produced by Pau Brasil. The latest Saturno (2018) release sees the trio Fideles and Stroeter set out on an improvisational journey through inter- and dystonic sound streams. The album features synthesizers and keyboards as well as electric bass. It is visually similar to Quartzo (special feat. Celio Barros and CANiL_ were recorded in duo by Fideles u0026 Gomide. Caixa Cubo released 2012, their first album after releasing a demo. Contemporary and highly improvised, Acoustic had tracks recorded in duo or trio. Arthur Decloedt recorded compositions on double bass, while Celio Barros recorded free improvised performances using two themes from Claude Debussy. Fideles and Stroeter travelled between Brazil and Europe in the past years as they were granted scholarships to study at The Hague’s Royal Conservatory of The Hague. They have performed on many important stages, including the Jazz a Vienne Festival in France, Anton Philip Hall in The Hague, A-Trane in Berlin, Riverboat Festival in Denmark, and other cultural spots in Paris, London, Birmingham (Lond), Lisbon, Rotterdam, and London.
