Laura is an award-winning jazz singer and songwriter based in New York City. She has performed with many musical ensembles across Europe, America, Canada and the United States. Laura continues to produce a broad range of music, including Jazz, Folk, Traditional Sicilian, Italian, and Mediterranean songs. She can also sing in English, Spanish and Portuguese and has written original compositions in English and Sicilian. Laura has performed in many New York City jazz clubs and cultural venues, including Birdland, Kitano Jazz Club and Bar Next Door, Zinc Bar, Zinc Bar, Bar Next Door and Cornelia Street Cafe. With the SGI Youth Ensamble, she has performed at Lincoln Center’s Avery Fisher Hall in front of over 3.000 people. She has worked with many international musicians, including Ameen Saleem and Jon Davis, Tommy Campbell, Freddie Bryant and Saul Rubin. She collaborated with the Pakistani community in New York in 2013-15. They got their musicians involved in her bands. Sing Ballads u0026 Be Happy are some of the international highlights of Laura Campisi. She presented the original project in New York with Jon Davis and Ameen Salesem in summer 2015. Also, she presented her project Sicily Revisited in New York at the Italian American Museum in June 2014. Enrico Morello, Domenico Sanna, Enrico Zanisi and Luca Fattorini performed at the Festa della Repubblica in Lisbon in January 2013. Walnut Street Station is a documentary film about the American and Italian Jazz scenes in New York and New Jersey, directed by Gianluca Bolzzo (2014). She also appears on the album Prospero by Gianni Gebbia’s Magnetic Trio (2014) with Never been so well, which she performed and for which she wrote the original lyrics. Marcello Pellitteri’s Aquarius Woman (2016) also features an instrumental version of Colors on your face. Laura’s story is included in the book Dall’altra parte della luna (“On the Other Side of the Moon”) by Lucio Luca. This book contains a collection of interviews with Sicilians who have made their way in America. She has appeared on many TV and radio shows in America and Italy. Laura will soon release her debut album Double Mirror, featuring international jazz stars Gregory Hutchinson, bassist Ameen Salesem, and Flavio L Vigni, drummer. Also, special guests Vincent Herring and Jonathan Scales, Martin Pantyrer, and Giovanni Falzone. The project Sicily Revisited is also in her hands. It’s a tribute to her roots, featuring a jazz-infused rendition of traditional Sicilian tunes. This project was founded in 2014 by Alberto Fidone and Andrea Beneventano, an international jazz pianist. Laura is an expert in Sicilian musical traditions.
