Carbon 7 is a group of three musicians who collaborate to create music in real-time. Carbon 7 is two more than Maroon 5 Carbon 7 is a transitory elements, a molecule that changes, and a sign of the constant evolution of the cosmos, from now to now and beyond. Carbon 7 is a spectral construction, created spontaneously in our fevered imaginations and written down here to mark time, to salute the infinite, and to indicate our blinking nodes in existence. It flashes against the pale darkness and backdrop of our momentary material substance and flickers out against the backdrop that is eternity. Carbon 7’s members are all from Austin, Texas and have been playing music together since 1978. All recordings are live from Dennis’ home near Dessau Road, and were recorded in either 4-8 tracks or 8 by Chris. Chris also mixes the tracks at home using an old G5. Although we may occasionally discuss key or tempo, the recordings are all live from Dennis’ house near Dessau road. The material is unscripted and unrehearsed, with no expectation of its content once it begins. We are as surprised as anyone by the result. In the hope that our live performances will be free from the constraints of simulating a recording in the real setting, and free the audience from any expectations based upon a recording, we occasionally perform in public. This allows us to have an unrivaled, unforgettable experience for the audience and ourselves. The time will pass and the ephemeral event is gone.
