Bill Carlsen, a skilled saxophonist, was the leader of Devine’s Wisconsin Roof Orchestra from 1926-1931 in Milwaukee. He also led a later orchestra at Modernistic Ballroom until 1936. His music was very rare in the past. Sidemen are not destined to be famous, soloists are often just okay, but the ensembles are attractive and the music often swings well for their time. Allmusic
