Grammy-nominated Hammond organist Brian Charette is a leader in jazz modernism. Charette has collaborated with many artists, including Joni Mitchell, Chaka Khan and Lou Donaldson. Charette, who moved to New York City in 1995 from Meriden, Connecticut in his native Meriden (Connecticut), has been an integral part the New York City Jazz scene. Brian is a SteepleChase recording musician and just released “Music for Organ Sextette”, his third recording for SteepleChase. A solo organ recording was also completed by Brian. It will be released in January 2013. Brian is a regular performer all over the globe. Brian has had a number of very successful performances this year in NYC, LA and Spain. Brian has been endorsed by Nord and writes master classes for Keyboard Magazine. Downbeat Magazine awarded “Music for Organ Sextette” 3 1/2 stars in June and named Brian as a “Rising Star”, according to the 2012 Critics Poll. Brian has recorded with many jazz musicians, including Bucky Pizzarelli and Mike DiRubbo. Rodney Jones and Sheryl Bailey have two new Mel Bay instructional DVDs featuring Mr. Charette. Brian also teaches private lessons and master classes all over the globe. Recently, Fabrica de Sons in Lugo, Spain and Jaroslav Jesek Conservatory, Praha, Czech Republic were visited by Brian. Brian will be teaching at the Czech Jazz Summer Workshop in July 2012.
