Olivier Clements graduated from Humber College in Toronto, a bachelor’s degree in contemporary music. He also played with several of the school’s top groups (the Don Thompson Ensemble and the Humber Studio jazz Big Band), Hilario Duran and the Latin Explosion, and then returned to Victoria BC to perform with some of Canada’s most well-known folk and indie artists. He has performed with Louis-Jean Cormier and Dan Mangan, Emily Reid and Towers and Trees. Clements has been a guest principal trumpet with the Civic Orchestra and the Coupland Birthday Orchestra. He also served as a composer and soloist for the CBC Galaxy Rising Stars (opening act for Brian Blade Fellowship Band), and as a trumpet player at the Victoria Operatic Society as well as the Victoria Jazz Orchestra. Clements has extensive experience in the studio as a session trumpet/flugelhorn musician and horn arranger. Clements has written and recorded parts for Said the Whale and Jennah Barry, Teagan Johnston and Teagan Knight. Olivier Clements has been working with Aidan Knight on his main project. Since Knight’s debut album, “Versicolour”, in 2010, Clements has been playing flugelhorn, wurlitzer and synths. The band is on a hectic international tour schedule and has performed with Dan Mangan, Half Moon Run (Said The Whale), Hey Ocean, Hannah Georgas. Their latest album, “Each Other”, was released by Outside Music on January 22, 2016. Dissonant Histories is composed by Olivier Clements. It’s an eight-piece ensemble that recklessly mixes jazz with indiefolk and jazz.
