Kenny Cox

Kenny Cox, born November 8, 1940 and died December 19, 2008. He was a jazz pianist who performed in the post-bop, hard-bop and bebop genres. Cox played the piano for Etta Jones in the 1960s. He was also part of a quintet that featured trombonist George Bohannon. He had already formed his own Kenny Cox, and the Contemporary Jazz Quintet by the end 1960s. They recorded two albums for Blue Note Records prior to the end the decade. Cox has been a contributor to many albums and performed live with musicians such as Rahsaan Roy Kirk, Eddie Harris and Jackie McLean. He formed the Detroit-based Guerilla Jam Band in the 1980s, which included Tani Tabbal and Regina Carter. Wikipedia bio
