Sienna Dahlen is one of Canada’s most versatile and original singer-composer multi-instrumentalists. She currently lives in Toronto, Canada and works as a musician freelancer and teacher. She can be heard on both sides the Atlantic Ocean, performing music that combines folk, jazz, and experimental sounds. Sienna graduated from McGill University and University of Toronto, where she completed her Master of Jazz Performance degree in 2008. Sienna has received many awards from the Canada Council for the Arts, the Quebec Arts Council, and the Toronto and Ontario Arts Councils. These awards help to produce and distribute her work. She has enjoyed touring her music throughout North America and Europe for the past ten year. Sienna also participated in a three week creation residency in Patagonia in Argentina in March 2011. She was able to present her work in Buenos Aires with Nadine Bariteau, a visual artist. Sienna records and plays with several well-known groups, including The Karl Jannuska Septet and her own Sienna Dahlen Quartet. She has released albums in the past with Mads Baerentzen, a Danish pianist (“Lifelines”), and Wassim Soubra, a Lebanese pianist (“Dunes”), as well. In 2011, Sienna recorded new pieces by Amy Gamlen, a Paris-based saxophonist. She performed them in a duo with Dave Restivo, a Canadian pianist. Justin Time Records released Sienna’s latest recording, “Verglas”, in the fall 2012. It features Pierre Perchaud, Andrew Downing, and Karl Jannuska. Sienna can be heard throughout the soundtrack to the Academy Award winning animated film “The Danish Poet”, which was created by Torill Kove and music by Kevin Dean. From www.justintime.com
