Walter Davis Jr., a hard bop and bebop pianist and innovator, left the music industry to become a tailor. He returned to the music world in his later years. He was a solid soloist, bandleader and accompanist who amassed a lot of work, but never became a well-known name in the jazz community. Davis was a member of Babs Gonzales’ Three Bips.
