Bob Degan, a pianist, has recorded for Enja, Calig and Trio labels during the late ’60s, ’70s, and early ’80s. Although he has released one album with a duo or a quartet, his sessions were mainly trios. In the early 1960s, he attended Berklee and was a regular at Boston clubs. Degan spent the middle of the 1960s in Europe, performing with Art Farmer and Dexter Gordon. He also recorded there in 1968 as a leader. Degan was part of a trio that included Paul Motian. He also toured with Buddy DeFranco and Gary Peacock in the late 1960s and early 1970s. Degan then settled in Germany in 1974. Degan and Heinz Sauer played and recorded frequently together in the ’70s, ’80s, and co-led a quartet in early ’80s. They also served as sidemen with Makaya Natshoko, the Frankfurter Jazz Ensemble Voices, and Adelhard Roidinger during the mid-’70s to early ’80s.
