DKV Trio was one the most prominent free jazz groups based in Chicago. In 1994, the highly skilled and passionate members of DKV Trio — Kent Kessler (bass), Hamid Drake (percussion) and Ken Vandermark [reeds] — first met for Vandermark’s Standards release on Quinnah Records. They were so good together, they kept performing and eventually recorded several solid albums including Baraka and Live in Wels.
