Dave Douglas

Dave Douglas is undoubtedly the most prolific and original composer-trumpeter of his generation. He has recorded more than 30 albums and has a composition collection that exceeds 400 since 1993. His contributions to improvised music have earned him distinguished recognition, including a Guggenheim Fellowship and an Aaron Copland award. He is also a composer, trumpeter, and jazz artist. Douglas’ work has been developed for several different ensembles, including the Dave Douglas Quintet and Keystone. He is also active with Brass Ecstasy and Tea For 3. Tea For 3 is a trio consisting of a trio acoustic musicians and a trumpeter. Greenleaf Music is Douglas’ record label. He has released his own albums and those of other jazz artists. He continues to be a leader in digital music distribution. He is currently serving his 8th season as the artistic director of The Workshop in Jazz and Creative Music at The Banff Centre in Canada. He also co-founded and directs the Festival of New Trumpet Music which celebrated its ninth anniversary in 2011.
