Sara Dowling

Sara Dowling, a singer/songwriter currently residing in London, is Sara Dowling. Her powerful vocals are reminiscent of the great jazz and soul artists such as Nina Simone and Billie Holiday. However, she is also influenced by lyrical lyrics and haunting melodies. She was born in Oman to an Irish father, and an Arabic mother. Her father’s work meant that she spent much of her childhood traveling through the Middle East. She was a child who traveled through vast deserts as a child. This would be a great source of inspiration for her poetry and lyrics in the future. Her family moved to England in the eighteenth year. She was given a cello by her school, and she discovered her natural talent to perform. At the tender age of 12 she received a full scholarship to Chetham’s school of music in Manchester. She continued her classical training for 10 years, eventually earning a degree at The Royal Northern College of Music. Some of her achievements on the cello include performances with Yo Yo Ma and a concerto performance in the Halle Orchestra. Sara’s promising career as cellist was stopped by circumstances beyond her control. Sara was finally able to come back to life in 2009, using her vocal talents. She has performed and written her own songs and songs have been published by EMI. More recently, she has joined the Rastamouse children’s theatre as both a performer, and a writer. The first EP, “On Your Own”, is in the works and will be released early next year. It contains songs that embrace both the beautiful and harsh realities of life. from https://saradowling.wixsite.com
