Carol Duboc, a pioneer in urban jazz/adult contemporary/urban jazz in the 2000s has shared her knowledge and insights about love and romance through song. She sings original songs and stylized covers of popular classics. The sultry singer/songwriter, Smile, goes deeper than ever emotionally. The 10 tracks are a collection of inspiring moments that reflect the great challenges and joys of maintaining a long-term relationship. They invite fans and new listeners to share in the experience. Carol produced Smile and co-wrote all of the songs. She was also a Grammy nominee for keyboardist, recording artist composer, producer, and producer Jeff Lorber. Lorber played on Duboc’s 2002 album and co-wrote “I Wanna Love Someone” alongside her. Lorber invited many of the studio legends who recorded his Jeff Lorber Fusion album Galaxy to contribute their jazzy sensibilities, soulful power and soulful spirit to the Smile sessions. Some tracks on Smile feature Brian Bromberg, a Grammy-nominated bassist. Carol’s solo recordings as well as her live performances have received high praise. Christopher Loudon, Jazz Times Magazine’s editor, wrote that “…keenly inventive Duboc “is” one of the most dynamic and interesting jazz singers of her generation. Smoothjazz.com founder Sandy Shore captured the attention of the industry and fans when she said, “Smooth Jazz now has a new poster boy!” The album also featured Hubert Laws, a three-time Grammy nominee whose unique contributions have been a joy throughout Shore’s career. Her self-titled Duboc was released the following year. It featured mostly original songs with guest spots from Lorber, Patrice Rushen, and Gerald Albright. Jazz Times’ Christopher Louden spoke for many, saying: “Those who believe that lightning never strikes twice should listen to Carol Duboc’s second CD.” Songs for Lovers (2008) and All Of You (2005) were both singles that reached number 5 on the Radio.
