Nick Dunston is an improviser, composer, and instrumentalist. His performances have been seen at many venues and festivals in North America and Europe. He is considered an “indispensable player” on the New York avantgarde (New York Times). He has performed, toured and recorded professionally with artists like Vijay Iyer and Marc Ribot, Ingrid Laubrock and Ingrid Uzuri. Roulette Intermedium awarded him the Van Lier Fellowship in 2019, which was used to support the world premieres for The Floor is Lava! He was awarded the Van Lier Fellowship by Roulette Intermedium in 2019. This fellowship supported The Floor is Lava’s world premieres. Atlantic Extraction was his debut album. It “features an unusual instrumentation of double basse, drums electric guitar, flute [and] violin- and his compositions put this configuration to imaginative use.” (The Wire magazine).
