Silke Eberhard

Silke Eberhard, altosaxophonist, clarinetist, studied at the Musikhochschule Hanns Eisler, Berlin. She was then able to take David Liebman’s masterclass at the USA and the Jazz Workshop Residence at the Banff Centre of the Arts, Canada. She was a guestprofessor in 2004/2005 at the Ponitificia Universidad Javeriana de Bogota, Colombia. Apart from her long-standing Trio featuring Jan Roder on bass, Kay Lubke on drums and Aki Takase on piano, her current projects include the Duo OCA and Potsa Lotsa, a trio of horns that includes Gerhard Gschlossl and Patrick Braun (tenorsax), Nikolaus Neuser and Patrick Braun (trombone) – they play all of Eric Dolphy’s compositions. She has recorded and performed with many musicians, including Ulrich Gumpert and David Liebman, Johannes Bauer and Sabine Worthmann, Dave Burrell and Gerry Hemingway. Eberhard is also involved in interdisciplinarity projects, particularly when they are combined with theatre or dance.
