Rosana Eckert is a well-known international artist who has been described as a skilled vocalist, a versatile songwriter and an adept arranger. Her shows combine tradition and originality with sincerity and virtuosity. They are also full of humor, heart, and humor. As she moves from one genre to another, her jazz roots are always present. She creates special moments for her band mates, and takes listeners on an musical adventure that makes them feel connected, entertained, and inspired. She is a regular performer in the U.S.A and abroad and has performed with jazz legends such as Lyle Mays and Christian McBride, Bobby McFerrin and Kenny Wheeler, Bobby McFerrin and George Duke. Groove for Thought has recorded her as a featured improviser. Her highly anticipated fifth solo album titled Sailing Home, produced by renowned singer/pianist/arranger Peter Eldridge, features all original music and was released on June 21, 2019 on Origin OA2 Records. Rosana was an accomplished French Horn player and began jazz singing in college. Rosana began her career in jazz as a member the IAJE 1999 Sisters in Jazz Collegiate Sextet, which performed at the Monterey Jazz Festival. She was also selected by Christian McBride to take part in the 2000 Thelonious Monk Aspen Jazz Colony, where several of her performances were broadcast on BET Jazz. At the End of the Day was her debut solo CD. It was praised by Cadence Magazine as a “superior” debut and was nominated for the Independent Music Awards 2006 Best New Jazz Album. She has since recorded three more solo albums and collaborated with two other bands to record debut projects of original music: the Mike Steinel quintet featuring Rosana Eckert (Origin OA2 Records, June 2018) and Brasuka, a percussion-heavy, Brazilian-inspired jazz group co-founded and produced by Rosana. Brasuka’s album is due out on Origin World in spring 2020. Rosana, a renowned educator and principal lecturer in jazz voice at the University of North Texas, is a well-known teacher. Since 1999, Rosana has been a part of the UNT’s vocal jazz department. She teaches private lessons in jazz voice and performs performance techniques. Her students went on to win Grammy Awards, prestigious competitions, travel the world as solo and backup vocalists, create music schools and private lessons studios, publish choral arrangements and work as studio singing on soundtracks and commercials. Rosana is also a faculty member of the UNT Vocal Jazz Summer Workshop, the New York Voices Summer Vocal Jazz Camp, as well as a clinician and festival adjudicator. She is also a guest conductor and choral composer/arranger. Rosana Eckert Music, Hal Leonard Corp. and Sound Music Publications have published many of her vocal ensemble arrangements. They have been performed all over the world. She is passionate about jazz and shared it with children. Sharon Burch, author/educator, co-wrote Freddie the Frog u0026 the Jungle Jazz (published Hal Leonard). They also collaborated on an elementary music collection, Jazz And Kids: Song u0026 Activities for a Swingin’ Classroom. Rosana, a highly-respected improviser is featured on the vocal improvisation app, Scatability, by Michele Weir. She is also the female vocalist on Darmon Meader’s demo CD titled “Vocal Jazz Improvisation. An Instrumental Approach,” which can be found at DarmonMeader.com. Rosana’s book Singing with Expression: Authentic and Adventurous song interpetation, has been called groundbreaking, encyclopedic and an unrivalled resource for contemporary singers. Published by Hal Leonard in June 2018, it was published. Rosana is a vocalist, writer, and teacher who performs regularly in live performances. She also works as a producer and voice-over actor in Dallas. She is represented by Kim Dawson Agency as a voice-over actor and has appeared on numerous commercials and industrial spots for clients like AT.
