Mats Eilertsen was born in Trondheim, Norway in 1975. Mats is a sought-after musician who plays in many bands and ensembles both in Norway and internationally. He also plays drums with the Tord Gustavsen Ensemble and the Source. Six CDs have been released under his own name. The latest is Mats Eilertsen’s ‘SkyDive’ on the norwegian label Hubromusic. `SkyDive`features Tore Brunborg, sax, Thomas T. Dahl, guitar, Alexi Tuomarila, piano, Olavi Louhivuori, drums. Mats is one the most distinctive and talented bass players in the Norwegian jazz scene. His unique style of playing the bass is both warm and poetic. He’s also a skilled musician who can be both steady and experimental while still bringing the whole together.
