Steve Fishwick is widely regarded as one of the greatest jazz trumpet players to have come from the UK. His flawless technique and beautiful, harmonically rich improvisations are rapidly gaining him a worldwide reputation. One of the many trumpeters who are heavily influenced and influenced by Kenny Dorham’s melodic approach to jazz trumpet playing is Steve Fishwick. Along with “K.D. In 1994, they moved to London to attend the Royal Academy of Music. Steve graduated from the Academy with a Bachelor of Music in 1998. Steve was invited to perform at the Festival Of New Trumpet Music in New York City by Jeremy Pelt. He also performed at Smoke Jazz Club, Smalls and Dizzy’s Coca Cola, along with Osian Roberts and Jeb Patton, Mike Karn, and Matt Fishwick. They also recorded their second sextet CD In the Empire State’ while in NYC. This was released in 2016 to great critical acclaim. He has also performed with Jools Holland, Kylie Minogue and Jamie Cullum on the commercial side of music. You can hear him playing the jazz trumpet solos in the soundtrack to the British Movie (and Ian Drury Biopic ‘Sex And Drugs And Rock And Roll’). He has recorded for numerous TV shows and commercials. He has performed all over Europe (France and Germany, Switzerland and Russia, Latvia and Lithuania, Poland and Estonia), China, New York and Spain on many occasions. Steve is also an enthusiastic educator. He is the principal lecturer of jazz trumpet in Leeds College of Music and a member of the teaching faculty at Guildhall School of Music and Drama. He has taught master classes at many conservatoires, including the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama and Shanghai Conservatory of Music.
