Julia Fordham, born 10 August 1962, is a British singer and songwriter. Her professional career began in the 1980s under the name “Jules Fordham”, when she was a backing singer to Mari Wilson and Kim Wilde. She signed a recording contract later that decade. Fordham now lives in California. Fordham’s first album, Julia Fordham, was released by Circa Records in 1988. The album reached No.1 after a lot of publicity, including an appearance on BBC1 Wogan’s April 1988 chat show. It reached No. 20 in the UK, and was eventually certified platinum. It featured the Top 40 hit “Happy Ever After”, which peaked at No. 27 in August 1988. The album reached No. The album reached No. 118 on Billboard 200 charts. In 1989, Fordham released Porcelain 2, her second album. It charted higher that her debut album (No. 13), and was certified by the British Phonographic Industry as gold. Fordham’s single album that charted on the US Top 100 reached No. 74. Fordham’s third album, Swept, was released in late 1991. It reached No. The album reached No. 33 in the UK. It also contained the Top 40 hit, “(Love Moves IN) Mysterious Ways”, which peaked on the charts at No. 19 in 1992, and also appeared in The Butcher’s Wife (1991). The first three Fordham records Julia Fordham and Porcelain were all certified Gold in Japan. The No. 1 single, “Happy Ever After”, was taken from the first record. Japan ranked No. 1. Falling Forward was Fordham’s fourth album. It was released in 1994. It peaked at No. 21 in the UK. One single, “Different Time. Different Place” narrowly missed the UK Top 40 (No. 41). East West, Fordham’s fifth album, was released in 1997. 1998’s The Julia Fordham Collection featured a collection of the most popular songs from the five albums. It also included new recordings of “Where Does The Time Go”, which featured Curtis Stigers as the vocalist. Concrete Love was Fordham’s first album. He was signed to Division One/Atlantic Records in 1999. Larry Klein produced the album, who previously worked with Joni Mitchell (his ex-wife) and Fordham on Falling Forward. Her contract was terminated and her record label closed, which led to the cancellation of the release. Vanguard Records eventually released the album, along with several other international labels, including Sanctuary Records in Britain. The album featured a rerecording of the title track, as well as a duet featuring India. Arie and a different cover art. Also released were remixes of “Wake up with You”. Fordham went on an acoustic tour of clubs in the US, UK and Japan. That’s Life, her seventh album, was released on Fordham’s 42nd birthday. Fordham’s Vanguard recording contract ended in 2005. In 2005, Fordham’s sibling, Claire Fordham published Plus One: A Year in Hollywood Nobody. It was based on her experience as Fordham’s younger sister living in Los Angeles. Fordham continued to record and independently released a remake her debut single, “Happy Ever After”, with the help of a children’s choir from a village on the south coast in England. This was done in aid for the Indian Ocean Tsunami relief. Two tracks were written and recorded by Aadeshshrivastava accompanied this. The single was released as a download and also available for purchase on CD. The record’s sales helped to rebuild a school at Cuddalore in India. Julia was able to return home in full circle after recording in West Sussex, UK. This is where she began writing songs and performing in folk clubs when she was a teenager. Fordham released Baby Love via AWAL in 2006. The EP contains songs that were inspired by Marley Rose’s birth. Fordham also appeared in a 2006 music video for “Here” by Judith Owen, playing the role of Owen’s mom. Jamie Lee Curtis directed the video. Fordham was a guest vocalist in 2007 on “Carry” from Judith Owen’s album Happy This Way. Owen is a friend of Fordham and has performed with him on stage. The compilation album Songbook was released by EMI in September 2007. The compilation album Songbook was released only in the Philippines and featured both studio recordings and rare live tracks. It was announced in November 2007 that Fordham had finished a new album, which would be released through NovaTunes, a “start-up” company. China Blue was made available as a free download in January 2008. The album is jazz-based and contains self-penned tracks. One track, “I Keep Forgettin'”, is a cover song by Leiber and Stoller and features Michael McDonald singing. The album Unusual Suspects was released in 2010 by Fordham and Paul Reiser, comedian, actor, and pianist. After the album’s release, Fordham and Paul Reiser embarked upon an acoustic concert tour. Three new tracks were released by Fordham in late 2011. They are “You Left Me For Dead”, Red Silk Dress (collaborations between guitarist Dominic Miller), and “Christmas in London”. Cherry Red Records reissued Fordham’s 1989 album Porcelain and its 1991 sequel, Swept in 2013 as two-CD deluxe editions. Cherry Red Records released a 2-CD deluxe version Julia Fordham in 2016. All re-releases include unreleased versions, rares, and annotations by Julia Fordham. Fordham was to perform 15 concerts in the UK between mid-2013 and early 2014. The tour started in Worcester on 20 juin and ended in Portsmouth on 13 July. Judith Owen joined Fordham on stage during the tour and performed a duet titled “That Scares me” from Owen’s album The Beautiful Damage Collection. Owen performed one of her songs, and Owen provided backing vocals and harmonies on stage when Fordham sang “Happy Ever After” (UK Number). 27). Fordham and Grant Mitchell have also collaborated again to record an album that includes her greatest hits and fan favorites. Under the Rainbow will be available worldwide for download on the 24th June, and in the UK on the 8th July. It also includes a brand new song called “Skipping Under the Rainbow”. Michael Ball (singer), performed “Skipping Under the Rainbow”, on BBC Radio 2’s Sunday night radio program on June 30, 2013. Ball and Fordham joined forces on the stage at Bush Hall, London, 4 July 2013. They performed a duet from Fordham’s “Where Does The Time Go?” (UK No. 41) Fordham was a guest host on the Richard Madeley Sunday Show, which aired on BBC Radio 2 from 7 July 2013. Grant Mitchell was the piano accompaniment. She performed two songs live on the show, including “Skipping Under the Rainbow”. Fordham released a touching tribute to Nelson Mandela shortly after she had completed her UK tour. The video was set to Fordham’s hit “Happy Ever After” (UK Number). 27). This song was inspired by Mandela’s struggle through apartheid, his imprisonment, and his presidency. After spending the summer 2014 in the studio recording tracks, she returned to the UK to embark on a brief tour that included stops in Bury St Edmunds and Selby, as well as Stockton-on-Tees and Selby. Fordham was back in the U.K. in November 2014 to celebrate the 25th anniversary her album Porcelain. With Grant Mitchell, her long-time pianist, she performed the entire album. Fans were particularly fond of “Moon River” from Breakfast At Tiffany’s and Blondie’s song “Call Me”, Eurythmics’ “Who’s That Girl” and Janis Ian’s version “Seventeen”. A reworking of ‘Happy Ever After” was also included. 2015 began in Japan with performances in Tokyo and Osaka in support of the JVC Japan release her Language Of Love album. Fordham returned to the UK with Grant Mitchell as backing vocals and piano after her appearance at the Malibu Guitar Festival (May), and summer concerts in San Francisco (Feinsteins At the Nikko), LA and New York (Joe’s Pub). One show at The Pheasantry, London on August 1, was followed by one at the St James’ Studio 24 hrs later. The three sold-out shows were completed by a Hayling Island homecoming gig (7 August). At all three UK shows, she performed the song “Got Your Back” taken from Status Unknown. Vinny Vero, So Hip It Hurts Productions
