Joel Frahm

Joel Frahm is a performer, recording artist and teacher. He has lived in New York City for nearly 30 years, where he worked in jazz clubs, collaborated with other musicians and perfected his craft. He is known for his bold and unique tenor voice that has won him fans across the U.S. as well as around the globe. He has performed alongside Betty Carter and Freddy Cole, Kenny Barron and Freddy Cole, Dianne Shuur, Kurt Elling as well as Jane Monheit, Bill Charlap (Brad Mehldau), Matt Wilson, Cyrille Aimee and many other top performers. He has performed as a sideman or leader on over 100 recordings. He has also appeared at jazz festivals across the United States, Canada, Israel, Canada, and South America. He has also taught jazz classes at the University of North Carolina and the University of Connecticut. He has also worked for the Monterey Jazz Festival’s Next Generation, the Sant Andreu Youth Jazz Orchestra, Barcelona, Spain, the Dave Brubeck Institute, Stockton, California, the Center for Jazz Studies in Tel Aviv, the Czech Jazz Workshop, and the Siena Jazz Workshop, Italy. Joel was born in Racine, Wisconsin, and moved to West Hartford as a freshman high school student. He joined the Hall High School jazz band. He discovered jazz music and developed a passion for it.
