Tomas Fujiwara was raised in Boston. He fell in love with music at the age of seven listening to Rich versus Roach, a classic drum battle record. As a leader and composer of various ensembles, as well as as a sideman and composer for theatre, film and dance, as well as as a teacher, clinician, and teacher, he has also been a clinician and teacher. The Hook Up is his current project. He has a working duo of Taylor Ho Bynum and Jessica Pavone. Their recent 482 Music release Stepwise was the followup. As a sideman, his credits include work with Matana Roberts and Ideal Bread, Amir El Saffar Red Barat, Matt Bauder and Positive Catstrophe.
