Susie Hansen, a talented violinist who is able to play Latin jazz, is one of few people who can do so. She regularly performs with her salsa and jazz bands in Los Angeles. James Hansen, her father, was a Chicago Symphony member for 37 years. He was also her first teacher. Susie studied jazz with Charlie Banacos in Boston, and sat in with Cedar Walton in Chicago. She then moved to L.A., in 1988. Since 1989, she has been leading her own bands. Solo Flight was her debut on the Jazz Caliente label. Allmusic
