Eugenie Jones was first to the jazz scene in Seattle WA. Her unique voice was praised by jazz fans who adored it. They also described her as a singer they could listen to all evening. “I never thought I would be able to sing in front of audiences as a child. My undergraduate and graduate degrees were in business, and I have spent most of my professional career in marketing and business development. My mother was, in my opinion, the family’s singer. Her soprano voice was an constant background in our home and was the reason my Father led Sunday morning choirs. I was her only companion through her final years. I began to miss the sound of her singing in our homes and hearts as I lost her to the disease. This longing led me explore my voice and to ask “I wonder …..?”” if I could sing. I was looking for an answer to this question and found it in Seattle’s jazz community. Voice coaching with Greta Matassa, and connections to musicians like Randy Halberstadt, Darin Clendenin and Bill Anschell. In the end, I discovered that I had a voice and the ability to share it.
