Hiromi Kanda, a Japanese singer, was born in Nagasaki. She was raised in Osaka and Nagasaki. At the age of three she began singing. She was 19 when she was signed by a Japanese record company and released an album. However, she began to focus on writing lyrics rather than performing. Later, she began singing again, performing pre-rock standards from The Great American Songbook. This resulted in Hiromi in Love featuring compositions by George Gershwin and Rodgers
