Keletigui Traore, a well-respected professional flutist/saxophonist, was invited to join Syli Orchestre Natal in 1959. He formed Orchestre de la Paillote, a dance group with several members of the national orchestra in the middle of the 1960s. They made their first recordings in 1968. A year later, they changed their names to Keletigui et Ses Tambourinis. Keletigui sang, as did Kerfala Camara, the trumpeter, and Manfila Dabadou Kaante, the bass-guitarist. However Tambourinis are best known for their instrumental prowess. Keletigui was a flutist and tenor saxophonist. His ten-man band featured the great alto and soprano Saxophonist Momo Wandel Soumah as well as Linke Conde and Lansana Diabate, bala-xylphonist and guitarist. Keletigui Traore died last year at the age of 74. from www.forcedexposure.com
