Kenosha Kid

Based in the humid indie-rock haven of Athens, Georgia, Kenosha Kid has supplied the world with their own unique blend of modern-jazz-meets-college-radio for over a decade. After several weeks of study and improvisation at the Banff Centre for the Arts in 2004, Dan Nettles, the bandleader, emerged with a fire of inspiration, a number of new collaborators, and an invigorated sense for purpose. He was able to create a scene, write for friends, and listen to his creative heart, regardless of musical idiom. After returning to Athens, Nettles began Kenosha Kid. The release of Projector [2005] was the first of a series of content from Kenosha Kid. It also included a DVD/CD set featuring an all new score for Buster Keaton’s silent film Steamboat Bill, Jr [2008], a vinyl release Fahrenheit [2009], ten selections taken from Ray Bradbury’s sci fi classic, and a Bandcamp archive that contains over 40 live shows. Inside Voices (March 2015), features the telepathic core trio Dan Nettles and Robby Handley, along with Marlon Patton and Robby, and a formidable horn section consisting of Nettles’ Banff friends trumpeter Jacob Wick and Peter Van Huffel, and Greg Sinibaldi, tenor/bari and bari saxophonists. Outside Choices, a companion record recorded in Athens during the same week, will be released in 2017. The band’s music is haunting and haunting. They also have a powerful groove that will appeal to jazz lovers, indie-rock fans, and funk-loving jam enthusiasts. from http://kenoshakid.com
