George King

George King, IBLA Grand Prize Competition winner, performed his Piano Etudes on a tour of the USA in April 2009. The culmination was a performance at Carnegie Hall in New York. George King was named the Daily Telegraph Young Jazz Musician Award in 1996. This resulted in performances at the Edinburgh, Manchester, and Brugges Jazz Festivals. George received a scholarship in 1999 to study piano, composition and conducting at the Royal College of Music with John Barstow u0026 Edwin Roxburgh. George was awarded many prizes during his time at the Royal College of Music, including the Contemporary piano and French piano prizes. George has participated in numerous recordings, as well as classical and jazz concerts. He has recorded music by Joanna Macgregor, Edwin Roxburgh, and Nitin Swaney. George gave a live improvised recital in 2003 at the Warehouse in London. This was recorded on their label. George participated in the finals of the International Jazz Piano Competition, Moscow in March 2005. This prestigious competition was broadcast on Russian radio and television, with George being the only UK participant. George made his London Southbank debut in January 2006 at the Purcell Room, playing works by Lindberg, Boulez and his own Etudes. This concert has been broadcast many times on BBC Radio 3.
