Gabriele Mitelli

Gabriele Mitelli was born in Brescia, Italy, in 1988.
He studied with Beppe Rusconi, a Brescia-based maestro, and then with Markus Stockhausen, a Cologne-based maestro. He has performed with many of the leading players in jazz and edge music including Beppe Scardino and Tino Tracanna, as well as Jeff Parker and Rob Mazurek. He is also an artistic director, and has brought in some of the best jazz musicians from Italy. He was named Best New Italian Talent by the Musica Jazz, a renowned music magazine.

MUSIC

2017 – Mitelli is selected as an artist in residence by AIR and publishes his second album with the record company Parco della Musica, Rome. Crash was a member of a quintet that included American saxophonist Ken Vandermark. Novara Jazz arranges another artist-in-residence project in Locarno. He records a duo featuring Alexander Hawkins, an English pianist who collaborates with Louis Moholo and Rob Mazurek as well as Chad Taylor. They also perform together at Novara Jazz Festival, Lagarina Jazz festival. Mitelli, Calcagnile, Mirra and Mirra produce VER, a Ground Music Festival project that features Nino Sammartino on the vinyls and Unzalab, the artists union, at the projectors (16mm & super8).

2016 – Grove&Move is Mitelli’s second album as a duo with Vibraphonist Pasquale mirra and it ranks in the Top 10 according to European Jazz Chart. Mitelli begins working with Cristina Dona for her new tour. She plays at the top jazz festivals in Italy, including Torino Jazz Festival and Young Jazz Festivals, Pavia Jazz Festivals, Novara Jazz Festivals, Jazz&wine for Peace .

2014 – Mitelli publishes his first solo album, Hymnus Ad Nocturnum, produced by Parco Della Musica in Rome. He later plays with Giovanni Guidi’s Unknown Rebel Band. Gianluca Petrella.

2012 – Mitelli performs at La Fabbrica del Jazz, Schio. He is a radical improvisation artist. He is performing in Poznan (Poland) with Leszek Trzybinski, painter Mark Maksimovich and Alberto Cavenati, sculptor.

ARTISTIC DIRECTION

Mitelli co-founded the artists union RES – Ricerca Euristica Sonora. This collective work of improvisation includes 30 musicians from Milan, Bergamo, and Brescia. He is also the founder of SocialJazz Club, and New Vision festivals. He was a collaborator with the city and the association Jazz on the Road for ClouBs festival. He is the creator and artistic director for GroundMusic Festival in 2017.
