Naosuke was born in 1936 and was already a veteran bassist by the time he released this album as a leader. He had been a member of George Kawaguchi’s Big Four Plus One group in 1960 and was playing with Sadao Watanabe, et al. His decision to return to Kansai, his hometown in the Mid-Western region of Japan after leaving Tokyo meant that his recording had not been made. He assembled a group of musicians around his age, as well as younger musicians with fresher sensibilities to record the first album that he had waited over 15 years for.
