Carl Winther is a young pianist who is well-known in Denmark. He was the son of Jens Winther (a world-famous composer and trumpet player), and began touring as a youngster. His performances are stunning and virtuous. He also has a natural ability to improvise. Winther is a Jazz and Classic musician who has received numerous awards for his intricate and elaborate compositions and extraordinary skills. His trio is supported by veteran drummer Anders Mogensen and Johnny Aman on bass, making it one of the most strogest combinations ever to support Bergonzi’s incredible tenor sound. The beautiful, shimmering interplay seems like it has a soaring vision that’s greater than the sum of its parts. Over a decade of collaboration with Bergonzi resulted in five amazing albums: Sonic Shapes (2011) with bassist Joel Illerhag and Tetragonz (2013) with drummer Anders Mogensen, Inner Journey (2017 Steeplechase Seeout), and two additional albums for the quintet, which includes trumpeter Phil Grenadier (“Dog Star”, 2017 Savant and Dedication (2018), AMM). The quartet performed extensively at festivals and venues across Northen Europe, Canada, USA, and Denmark. Mogensen’s label AMM pulled out his cylinder hat to record a spontaneous live session with long-time friends, playing some of their favorite songs.
