Shinichi Osawa Born February 7, 1967. Originated from Shiga. Blood Type O. Shinichi Osawa was the first to make his debut as leader and bassist in MONDO GROSSO. The band was formed in Kyoto in 1991. It released an album entitled “MONDO GROSSO” in 1993 via For Life Records (Japan). The album received great reviews in the acid-jazz era and was also well-received abroad. After the completion of the 1995 tour, “Born Free”, the band was disbanded. MONDO GROSSO was formed in 1995. It now includes Shinichi, as well as other vocalists and musicians he chooses. He released his third album, “Closer” in 1997. At the same time, he started his career as a producer, producing hits like “Rhythm” by UA, and “YOU MAKEME” by Monday Michiru. He moved to Sony Music Associated Records Inc. in 1999 and established his own label “REALEYES.” In the same year, bird was fully produced by Shinichi Okawawa, who also became the first artist on his label. It sold well over 800,000. He recommenced his activities under the name “MONDO GROSS” in 2000. The highly-acclaimed masterwork album, “MG4”, was released. It includes the hit song “LIFE”. This album was also available from Sony Music in 25 countries around the world, including the United States. Shinichi was the only Japanese contributor to the 2002 FIFA WORLD CUP album, “Fever Pitch”, which was sold in more than 30 countries. His fifth album, “NEXT WATER”, was released in 2003. Shinichi’s fifth album “NEXT WAVE” was a huge success, selling more than 150,000 copies. This is a remarkable feat for a club music album. Shinichi renamed FEARLESS RECORDS in 2004 and began producing more original works. He also compiles mix CDs and releases music from overseas, as Shinichi recommended.
